CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE, DANCE TO THE MUSIC ...
We made it - ONE WEEK. Yeah. 13 pounds between us has been released.
This is the first time we've worked on a lifestyle change program with only good side effects: A lighten up in weight, stress, dis-eases, and attitude. No headaches, no hunger, no bad moods, just a little tired and slightly sore from adding an exercise program.
So what's on the agenda today?
Going shopping for NOME clothes. Not, GNOME clothes. In case you were wondering, "Nome" is a very cold place in Alaska where the Iditarod race completes. We need warmer clothes because we will be there for six days - watching the mushers cross the finish line.
There's a store in Anchorage that rents warm, specialty clothes and gear. We might check that out before buying expensive items that may only be used once. Having fun with the Lighten Up 33 Transformation program is also releasing brain-cobwebs allowing more logical thinking and creativity. How cool is that?
Average temperatures in Nome can run from below zero to 30 degrees above. Today the temperature is 27 degrees, with 23% precipitation; 97% humidity; and 14 mph winds.
Nome is a city in the Nome Census Area in the Unorganized Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska. The city is located on the southern Seward Peninsula coast on Norton Sound of the Bering Sea. In 2014 the population was estimated at 3,788, a rise from the 3,598 recorded in the 2010 Census. Nome was incorporated on April 9, 1901, and was once the most-populous city in Alaska. Nome lies within the region of the Bering Straits Native Corporation, which is headquartered in Nome. The city of Nome claims to be home to the world's largest gold pan, although this claim has been disputed by the Canadian city of Quesnel, British Columbia.
In the winter of 1925, a diphtheria epidemic raged among Alaska Natives in the Nome area. Fierce territory-wide blizzard conditions prevented the delivery of a life-saving serum by airplane from Anchorage. A relay of dog sled teams was organized to deliver the serum, which is now THE IDITAROD race.
