Lack of sleep, new environment and missing our celery juice is causing health problems in Nome. How do those mushers do it?
A "cold" is trying to catch us. Here's what we are doing:
SLEEP (getting more rest - as much as possible): We don't get up until we hear the horn letting us know another musher is close to crossing the finish line. Then we "run" to town (5 blocks) and cheer with all the others.
ZYTO SCAN: Checking our range every few hours and seeing what our cells are requiring of us to stay balanced. Zinc, B12, 5HTP, and Licorice keep showing up. The good news? Our range is staying pretty high even without our precious celery JUICE. We did build up a pretty good immune system over the past three weeks by drinking celery juice every day. Missing it now - can't get and don't have a JUICER.
FOOD: Detox Smoothie and ORANGES. Lots of oranges. The Blood-Oranges are available now, and they are scrumptious. We also brought plenty of bananas, apples, tomatoes, and greens.
Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie Ingredients: 2 bananas 2 cups wild blueberries 1 cup cilantro 1 cup orange juice 1 tsp barley grass juice powder 1 tsp spirulina 1 small handful of Atlantic dulse Optional: water to blend Directions: In a high-speed blender, blend all ingredients until smooth. If a thinner consistency is desired, add up to 1 cup of water. Enjoy!
EXERCISE: Running to the finish line when we hear the horn. Mushers are coming in every few hours now. Rick Casillo is coming in tonight.
EDUCATION: Being in Nome is an education. The people who live here are amazing. Why do they do it? I'm finding out. Will let you know. Visited the CRAFT SHOW yesterday and bought a print of the Iditarod race. It's beautiful. In speaking with the artist, she told me there is a lot of suicide in Nome. Will give her and the Mayor and the local VFW some of our THE TRUTH ABOUT SUICIDE books.
Be Safe, Be Well, Be Happy. Be Curious and Move a Lot.
