Day 10 - Journey of Sighs

Updated: Jul 9, 2021

Good Afternoon Friends.

I trust you slept well and woke up refreshed?

Well I didn't.

Can we talk?

I'm perplexed about something. I thought we were creatures of habit? Millions of books are written about this topic, and public speakers often use this topic as a reference point.

You and I, on this journey, have discovered a few secrets of life that work to bring happiness, wellness, and weight loss. Why on earth would we ever stop doing them? You probably don't - but I did, already. On just Day 10. What the heck?

The "secrets" we are learning and doing are easy, inexpensive, effective, and we can do them at home - as soon as we wake up. So why don't we continue to do them--forever and ever, Amen? Especially after we experience great results.

I'm wondering if I'm not hard-headed or lazy? For some reason, I will stop when I feel great but have to start over again when I feel poorly. These are the habits I'm talking about:

  1. Drink water first thing in the morning with some lemon or lime. So easy to do. The health results are we flush out the toxins the liver has worked so hard to get rid of the night before—a fantastic way to start each day. I don't think I've swallowed any water today yet. Sigh.

  2. Make and drink celery juice after that. We know celery juice is a miracle quick-fix for dis-ease issues, from allergies to more serious ones. You know this to be true if you have tried it. Why would you ever stop? You might take a break once in a while--but even that isn't very clear. It works. So do it, and don't stop. It's now 3:00 PM. My fridge is full of organic celery. I haven't made any juice yet. Sigh.

  3. Prayer. I once experimented in grad school with prayer. I measured the vitality (energy level) of different foods. Watermelon, for me, was off the chart high. If I were smart, I would eat watermelon every day. Then I got a bright idea and decided to pray over it with gratitude and measure it again. The vitality level quadrupled. Why would I ever forget to pray over my food? It's not just about being grateful and obedient. It's about prayer raises our actual health level. Sometimes I still forget to pray before I eat. Sigh.

  4. Exercise. We all know and experience the value of movement: Taking a walk in nature or stretching, swimming, dancing, running, trips to the gym, and the exercise machines we bought and shoved in the closet or under the bed. Why do we stop when we feel so good when we do it? I didn't walk on the beach this morning. It was too hot and humid. So that's what I said. What the heck? Sigh.

  5. Junk Food. We know it's going to cause problems. But we eat it anyway. I don't have any in my house. I know I'm a see-food eater, so I only have healthy stuff here. Guess what? I fasted today rather than eat healthy food. What the heck? Sigh.

This BLOG should definitely be called the "JOURNEY OF SIGHS."

So, here's what we are going to do: Repent. Say some prayers of gratitude, drink some water, and go for a walk. Watch a funny movie and go to bed early. Tomorrow will be a better day. I can feel it. Press the RESET button.
